Bloedarend The duo take their time to fully develop the songs, resulting in (mostly) lengthy, complex tracks. The production is solid, with an emphasis on guitars and Nohr's tortured, piercing vocals. The mood swings from grandiose, majestic and aggressive to subdued and melodic. "I Skyggen Af Den Æreløse Strejfer" is a prime example thereof. Overall, this reminds me of old Burzum and Emperor, with a bit less emphasis of the 'symphonic' adjective. A fine album indeed! Favorite track: I Skyggen af den Æreløse Strejfer.

frithrah An incredible masterpiece with a deep majestic sound, uplifting melodies and wicked screams. The songs are long, travelling through sublime movements and cyclic riffs. Rare synth adds mood and longing. An instant classic and favourite for me. If you like the style of Windir or Cor Scorpii you will love this. So grateful this exists in my world. Favorite track: I Skyggen af den Æreløse Strejfer.

Dan Capp One of the best Black Metal albums of recent years. Reminiscent of Abigor and Kvist. Memorable riffs and sections throughout, and a production which captures just the right atmosphere. Addictive! Favorite track: Monster.

L. It's been a while since an album struck me down so hard as this Grifteskymfning masterpiece. So much that it has become a daily obsession -if my sick obsession with BM wasn't enough- like the other maniac ones who conceived this album in order to get you spelled by the true blackness art. The purest 90s BM essences -brought to a current context- brewed by bewitched riffs, arcane melodies, otherwordly vocals, fiery drums and dreamlike atmosphere. Absolute best 2020's album. Favorite track: Monster.

H.L. GRIFTESKYMFNING's 2011 release "Likpsalm" is a widely unknown black metal masterpiece with lo-fi sound but with a unique obscure and magic spirit. An all-time classic! After all these years I expected this project to be dead and was more than suprised by this double release. "Bedrövelsens Härd" has the same atmosphere and underground attitude but an improved sound. Reverbering vocals, obscure melodies and a rousing songwriting push both albums to the top of my playlist! Thanks for coming back! Favorite track: Monster.

about

Svartrit Sweden

The band Svartrit was founded by Sir N. and Ramn in 2003. They shared the dark desire to conceive pure Black Metal with Svartrit; and the meaning of their music was to be found in their mutual feelings of negativity as well as their interest in Dark Germanic Heathenism and the chaotic and chthonic forces represented therein. ... more
